Battle fields were always loved by Rathores as play grounds.
Everday was a war to save honour & dignity, wars are count less, we cant explain those in Gigabytes.

In earlier time all wars were either against Mugals or other Rajputs to save their state.

World War 2

Rathore Rajputs participated in second world war with the flag of Jodhpur Rajput Risala. 1st and 2nd regiment of Jodhpur Rajput Risala has been sent to battle field in starting time of Europe World War 1614. King Sir Pratap Singh and Prince Sumer Singh of Jodhpur also joined their army in this war by their own will. Jodhpur Rajput Risala fought in Marseilles, Merville, Ypres war, Festubert, Givenchy in year 1615 & 1616. There were total 1,356 Rathore rajputs in Jodhpur Rajput Risala.

From dispatches of British army Loard Chemsform said about Rathores  “By their exploit at Haifa and in Jordan Valley recalled the deeds of their ancestors who fought at Tonga, Merta and Patan. The reputation which they have gained is well worthy of the glorious annals of Marwar”.

“The Mugal emperors were indebted for half of their conquest of the 100,000 swords of Rathores.”
From Annals & Antiquities of Rajasthan by Kernal Tod.

Giri-Sumel War

This war is a example of what a true Rajput stands for. Honour. Knowingly two supreme commanders of Rao Maldev’s army, decided to fight with Mugals just to die with Honour and let the Rao Maldev know about their loyalty.

This war was between King of Delhi, Shershah Suri  and King of Marwar State Rao Maldev, Fought around Jaitaran (Pali) near village Giri and Sumel. So this war is known as Giri-Sumel War.

Rao Jaita and Rao Kumpa were two commanders of Rao Maldev’s army. They were well known because of their past heroism history. In battle field Mugal played a trick to make Rao Jaita and Rao Kumpa’s character doubtful. And they succeed in that by planting seeds of doubt in king Rao Maldev’s mind for his both commanders Jaita and Kumpa.
Rao Maldev decided to back off from battle field. Rao Jaita and Rao Kumpa tried their best to make him trust but they could not make it. Finally Rao Maldev left the battle field with his army. Both commanders were left with their 6,000 men in battle field. In Mugal army 40,000 men were in battle field to fight.
Commanders Jaita and Kumpa knew that this war would be last war of their lives but it was the matter of honour and did’nt step back. 6,000 Rathores were enough to make Mugal on their knees but in last moment Zalal khan Jaywani came with another army to help Shershah in battle field. They fought and died in the name of Honour  and loyalty. All Rathores died with their commanders for showing loyalty to his King.
In Shershah’s own word after the battle “Thanks to Allah, somehow we manage to get victory, otherwise I have almost lost the crown of Hindustan just for the sake of handful grains”.

Brave commanders in that war who sacrificed their lives for love of the motherland were :
Rao Jaita – Bagri Thikana
Rao Kumpa – Asop Thikana
Khivkaran – Raipur
Panchayan Karamsot – Khivsar
Sonagra Akheraj – Pali
Jesa Bhati Nimba – Lavera.

They are Heroes and live in us somewhere.
